Can you stop Fred Reid? And I can get you at a pick'em price? I gotta do it. Some people may point to the 329 yards that Michael Bishop threw for last week, and say that Winnipeg has a great chance with a more balanced attack. Well let's look at the 3 INTs he threw, and that is no anomaly. This has always been the knock on Bishop, and it's what you know you're going to get if you let him air it out 33 times in one game. Sure the guy has a very good arm, and is a veteran, but he makes bad decisions. With Fred Reid having a hard time getting going, the Riders may even be able to key on the pass game a bit more this week. If Bishop has to air it out 33 times again, it's not a good thing, and I expect the Riders to win the turnover battle yet again. Conversely, Darian Durant didn't need to air it out... which is a good thing, because he can often remind me of Michael Bishop. However, he has a receiving core that is getting healthier, and with Wes Cates starting to pick it up, Saskatchewan's balanced attack should be enough to pull this one out. Winnipeg has lost the last 3 meetings in the back-to-back labour day series. I expect this trend to continue.

I am big fan of futures, and I see two that I really like going into the season. First is the St. Louis Rams under 5.5 wins (+115). This is a team with IMO one of the worst passing attacks in the league, and no depth at wide receiver. Bulger is not a guy I want to depend on right now, and with Jackson as the only weapon, I expect it to be fairly easy for teams to key on him and limit the offensive success of the Rams. This is a team that is rebuilding, and perhaps the 5.5 is due to the weak division they play in. However, both the Seahawks and 49ers are improved, while the Cardinals are likely to have similar regular season success to last season. They do have a favourable game against Detroit, but even that isn't a gimme with this Rams team.
St. Louis Rams Under 5.5 Wins (+115)
The other future I like is the New York Jets Under 7 wins (+110). A rookie QB, and a tough schedule will equal a tough time for this team to match last year's 7 wins. You take out Favre and replace him with a rookie, lose Coles, leaving teams able to key on Cotchery, and you have a much weaker offence. The Bills still suck, but they are better than last year, the Patriots are better, and the Dolphins are still good. They have a tough out of division schedule, and will be hard pressed to start off as hot as they did last year.
